Stitch-Hacking

I stopped running my hand and machine knitting workshops in 2014. Therefore, this workshop is no longer available - however, I am still keen to share the stitch-hacking technique, so watch this space...

Stitch-hacking involves the laddering and reconfiguration of stitches within existing knitted fabrics to create integral knit/purl designs and many other unconventional effects. At the workshop I'll teach you the basic hacking techniques and how to open, and graft closed, a knitted fabric. You'll have the opportunity to plan and hack your own design, and I'll give you a latch tool to take away. Learn the skill, and you'll never look at a plain jumper in the same way again!

See my stitch-hacked garments here, and read more about the technique here.

“Amy Twigger Holroyd has opened our minds to a whole new way of looking at our stitches. Hacking skills allow you to add character to inherited garments you weren’t 100% in love with, but it also gives you extra confidence and understanding of knitting construction. I urge every student of knitting to have a go, and book a class.” Rachael Matthews, Prick Your Finger

“Thanks so much for a really great workshop on Saturday. I learnt so much and it was a brilliant day all round.” Amy
