Knitting in the snow

A site-specific installation (in the garden outside the Keep & Share studio) on the first snowy day in 2013. Knitting on ten steel fencing pins with a 30m length of rope.

This piece is a continuation of the improvised knitting machines thread. I had the idea for this months before, but was waiting for the snow to create a perfect white backdrop. I like the way that the footprints build up as the knitting grows.

Recorded as a stop-motion animation.

  • Created on Friday 18th January 2013, in the first snow of the winter.
